SAMARA, February 24 (RIA Novosti) - The bodies of two sisters aged 5 and 10 have been found in a forest in Togliatti, a city in Russia's Volga Federal District, investigators said on Tuesday.
The girls went missing on February 20, a senior aide to the head of the Investigation Committee said. Their frozen bodies, showing no visible signs of violent death, were discovered on Monday near a local cemetery, local media reported.
The forensic report establishing the cause of death is expected on Wednesday.
Police say they have already detained a suspect.
"The suspect is a man, but his name and age are not being disclosed in the interest of the investigation," said Yelena Shkayeva, an aide to the region's chief investigator. "It is still unclear how the girls were killed. We are currently awaiting the results of a forensic examination."
