Last year, Deep Purple toured 11 cities in Russia and Ukraine from October 12 through 28, visiting not only the two countries' capitals of Moscow and Kiev, but also Odessa, Novosibirsk Rostov-on-Don and St. Petersburg.
The organizers said that all of the concerts on last year's tour were sold out and Deep Purple "played the best of the best that was recorded between 1968 and 2008."
Deep Purple is Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's favorite musical group.
Formed in Hertford, England, in 1968, Deep Purple along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, and were once listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's loudest band.
They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
