MOSCOW, March 3 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow's bid to host the 2013 World Swimming Championships has been formally accepted, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) said on Tuesday.

The other two cities in the running are Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and the German city of Hamburg. The competition will be held in July 2013.

"FINA will decide on the organizer of these Championships at its Bureau Meeting to be held on July 18, 2009, in conjunction with the 13th FINA World Championships in Rome [Italy]," the official FINA website said.

The federation added that "Until then, FINA will provide all the necessary assistance to the three final bidders for the preparation of their candidature, including an inspection visit to each of the three cities."

The world swimming championship is held once every two years and will take place in Rome this year and in Shanghai in July 2011.
