MOSCOW, March 11 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian national soccer team has moved up one spot to eighth place in the latest FIFA rankings, overtaking England.
Spain, the European champions, remain in first place.
Russia face Azerbaijan on March 28 in Moscow in a Group 4 2010 World Cup qualifier. They then travel to Lichtenstein for another qualifier on April 1.
The Russian side are in second place in the group, with six points from three games. Germany lead, with ten points from four matches. The other sides in the group are Finland and Wales.
