MOSCOW, March 17 (RIA Novosti) - Poland's minister for sport has appealed to the Catholic Church to support the country's efforts to hold a successful Euro 2012, the KAI news agency said on Tuesday.
Poland is due to joint host Euro 2012 with neighboring Ukraine.
Miroslaw Drzewiecki said that he was counting on the Catholic Church to assist not with "the construction of stadiums," but rather with the providing of "spiritual nourishment" for fans and players.
"We are really counting on the clergy," he said.
UEFA President Michael Platini is due to visit Poland and Ukraine in mid-April to assess preparations for the tournament.
