MOSCOW, April 22 (RIA Novosti) - Police in Yekaterinburg in Russia's Urals have seized more than 25 kilograms of heroin concealed in sacks of radish at a vegetable storage facility, a local police spokesman said on Wednesday.
The drugs were found inside trucks during a special operation on Monday to uncover a drug trafficking group. Two Tajik nationals were arrested.
The heroin was delivered from Tajikistan to the city of Kurgan, in Russia's southeast Urals, and then taken in trucks to Yekaterinburg. A criminal case has been opened, and the suspects face up to 10 years in jail.
Tajikistan is a major smuggling route for heroin from neighboring Afghanistan, the world's largest heroin producer.
