IRKUTSK, May 3 (RIA Novosti) - Seven people died and another seven were injured in a fire that broke out in a wooden residential building in Irkutsk in east Siberia, the regional emergencies department said on Sunday.
"Efforts are underway to clear the debris. It has been established that seven people died in the fire while another seven with burns are in hospital," the regional emergencies department said.
The fire in a two-story residential building broke out early on Sunday. Firefighting teams arrived at the scene a minute after they were summoned, the regional emergencies department said.
The fire broke out in an apartment on the second floor after the explosion of a household gas container. Half of the building collapsed. The fire was put out two hours later, the regional emergencies department said.
