GROZNY, May 15 (RIA Novosti) - Two militants were killed in the Chechen capital of Grozny on Friday after offering armed resistance to police, the republic's interior minister said.
One militant was killed as he tried to throw a grenade at police. Officers "were forced to return fire," Ruslan Alkhanov said. The second gunman was killed after police surrounded him in a residential building.
Earlier on Friday, two police officers were killed and three injured in a bomb blast set off by a suicide bomber near the Chechen Interior Ministry in central Grozny.
Militant attacks have continued since the official lifting last month of the Kremlin's decade-long anti-terrorist campaign in the North Caucasus republic.
