ANKARA, May 22 (RIA Novosti) - The Turkish army said on Friday it had killed four Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants in the country's southeastern province of Diyarbakir.
At least 670 Kurdish militants were killed by Turkish forces in counter-terrorism operations last year.
The PKK, considered a terrorist organization by the EU and the U.S., has been fighting for an autonomous ethnic Kurd state in southeast Turkey for nearly 25 years. The conflict has so far claimed over 40,000 lives.
