MOSCOW, May 27 (RIA Novosti) - Rosatom has hundreds of billions of dollars worth of foreign orders for the construction of nuclear power plants (NPP) and reactors over the next 10 years, the head of Russia's state-run nuclear power corporation said on Wednesday.
"The average cost of the construction of a reactor at a nuclear power plant is about $4-5 billion. Our foreign orders portfolio in the next decade is estimated at hundreds of billions of dollars," Sergei Kiriyenko said on Vesti 24 television.
Rosatom's subsidiary, Atomstroyexport is building 14 NPPs in various countries around the world and plans to sign a number of new contracts in the near future.
"In particular, we are finishing the construction of two reactors in China and holding talks on the construction of two additional reactors. We are also in talks [with China] on the construction of two fast neutron reactors," Kiriyenko said.
Atomstroyexport, acting through a consortium with Russian power producer Inter RAO UES and Turkey's Park Teknik, is also participating in a tender to build four nuclear reactors with a generation capacity of 1.2 GW each in Turkey.
"The results of the tender will be announced in June, but our success is almost guaranteed - all our proposals have been accepted," the official said.
He added that Rosatom is the only company in the world that has the capacity for a full-cycle construction of nuclear power facilities - from site prospecting to the launch of reactors.
