MOSCOW, May 30 (RIA Novosti) - An Interior Ministry soldier was killed by a mine on Saturday morning in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, a law enforcement spokesman said.
"A mine exploded during a reconnaissance operation in woodland. As a result the group instructor was fatally wounded," the spokesman said.
In a separate incident the spokesman said a roadside bomb, equivalent to 1 kg of TNT, had exploded near the town of Khasavyurt in neighboring Daghestan. There were no casualties.
