ROSTOV-ON-DON, June 3 (RIA Novosti) - A policeman serving in an anti-narcotics unit was fatally injured by a bomb that exploded under his car on Wednesday morning in the south Russian republic of Ingushetia, the Interior Ministry said.
The bomb went off while Isa Tochiyev was driving his wife and children through central Nazran, Ingushetia's largest city, a spokesman said.
The wife and children are in a stable condition, according to medics.
The Federal Drug Control Service said in a statement that Tochiyev had been targeted by militants active in the region.
"Tochiyev's name was included on lists for elimination, mainly those compiled by illegal armed groups active in the region over the past five years," the service said.
Militant attacks and clashes remain common in Russia's North Caucasus although the Kremlin campaign to fight separatists and terrorists in Chechnya has officially ended. Violence often spills over into nearby republics, in particular Ingushetia and Daghestan.
