MOSCOW, June 4 (RIA Novosti) - Heavy rain and strong winds have left 65 people injured in central Russia, an emergencies ministry spokesman said on Thursday.
Gales swept across Russia's Central Federal District on Wednesday evening. Krasnozavodsk in the Sergiyev Posad District northeast of Moscow was reportedly hit hardest.
"Strong winds left 65 residents of the Central Federal District injured, of which 14 have been hospitalized. Most of victims suffered injures of moderate severity," the spokesman said, adding that no fatalities had been reported.
Electricity supplies were cut to 307 populated areas with a population of over 55,500 people in the Moscow, Smolensk, Ryazan, Bryansk, Kaluga, Vladimir, Yaroslavl, Tambov and Tver regions.
Some 300 emergencies officers and about 100 vehicles are currently involved in repair operations.
