MOSCOW, June 24 (RIA Novosti) - Mass protests in Iran over alleged electoral fraud will not affect Russia's work on the Bushehr nuclear power plant in southern Iran, a source in Rosatom said on Wednesday.
"Everything is going ahead normally, on schedule. We expect it to be launched by the end of this year," the source said.
He added that Iran maintains tight security near the nuclear power plant.
"Both the NPP and the nearby community area for specialists are fenced off with a triple cordon. There is no threat," he said.
The landslide victory of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on June 12 sparked a week of mass protests amid opposition allegations of ballot fraud. At least 13 people have been killed and over 450 arrested in demonstrations.
