SARAJEVO, June 30 (RIA Novosti) - Former Kosovo prime minister Agim Ceku, detained on an Interpol warrant in Bulgaria last week and later released, has said he plans to return to Kosovo, the Beta news agency said on Tuesday.

Ceku, 48, was arrested on an Interpol warrant initiated by Serbia as he crossed the border from Macedonia into Bulgaria last Wednesday. Ceku is wanted by Belgrade in connection with the deaths of 669 Serbs and 18 other non-Albanians during fighting in Kosovo in 1998-1999.

Ceku, Kosovo's prime minister in 2006-2007, has denied the charges, calling them politically motivated.

"I am free and returning to Kosovo. The prosecutors did not appeal the court's decision," he said. The deadline for appealing the court's decision to free him expired at midnight.

Ceku has been arrested and released twice in connection with the charges - in Slovenia in 2003 and Hungary in 2004. On May 9 of this year, he was deported from Colombia.
