TBILISI, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will visit Georgia on July 22-23 and meet with the Georgian leadership, the Georgian presidential press service said on Wednesday.
"The U.S. vice president will arrive in Georgia on July 22. He will meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and the parliamentary speaker David Bakradze," the press service said in a statement.
Biden and Saakashvili will hold a joint news conference after the meeting, the statement said.
According to the U.S. government, the visit is aimed at demonstrating "U.S. support for continued democratic and economic reforms" and discussing "issues of mutual interest in both countries."
Washington has recently reaffirmed its "strong support for Georgia's independence and territorial integrity" and pledged to "continue to support Georgia's military professionalization."
