PARIS, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - Redundant workers at a plant in France ended on Friday their protest and dropped plans to blow up the car parts factory in favor of 12,000 euros (about $17,000) of extra compensation for each, a French radio said.

Earlier on Friday, when the workers' ultimatum expired, the Industry Ministry offered to pay the workers the compensation in addition to 17,500 to 19,000 euros they are entitled to under the law, France Info reported.

The 366 striking workers at New Fabris plant in Chatellerault earlier demanded an extra 30,000 euroes ($41,000) per employee in compensation.

Factory workers set fire to debris in front of the factory earlier this month and barricaded inside their bankrupt factory after threatening to blow it up with gas canisters unless they receive a bigger payoff.

The incident was the third explosion threat by striking French workers this month.

The majority of workers voted to end the protest.

New Fabris was formerly owned by Zen group, its two largest clients were Renault and Peugeot. The factory is to be liquidated under an April court order.
