MOSCOW, August 6 (RIA Novosti) - After working a near miracle with the Russian men's national football team, Dutch coach Guus Hiddink is set to turn his attention to the country's women ahead of Euro 2009.
Former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager Hiddink, 62, will hold an open training session with the squad at Moscow's Cherkizovo stadium before the team leaves for the August 23-September 10 European championships in Finland, a spokesman for Russian football's governing body said on Thursday.
The Russian women's team has made the finals of the Euros for the first time in eight years.
Hiddink has also agreed to take charge of the training program for the team. However, the exact details of his work with the side have yet to be finalized.
The Russian men's team faces Argentina in a friendly in Moscow on August 12 as they prepare for a series of vital World Cup qualifiers.
Hiddink took over the Russian national side in the summer of 2006, and transformed a demoralized and underachieving team into surprise Euro 2008 semifinalists.
