BRUSSELS, August 14 (RIA Novosti) - Eight prisoners at a Belgian prison have started legal action against the state over claims they do not have enough clothing and the poor condition of their prison uniforms, a national daily said on Friday.
As part of their legal claim the prisoners are demanding 250 euros ($357) in compensation for each item of missing clothing and 500 euros ($714) every time they are strip searched, the La Libre Belgique said.
Lawyers representing the prisoners also said their clients are forced to wear the same underwear for several days in a row, which is unhygienic.
A prosecutor has requested the court dismiss the prisoner's case as groundless.
The judge adjourned the case until all the circumstances have been clarified.
