KHABAROVSK, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - At least one person died on Wednesday in a household gas explosion in Russia's Far East, an emergency services source told RIA Novosti.
The blast occurred at 3.17 p.m. (04:17 a.m. GMT) in the Khabarovsk Region city of Amur.
"Rescuers removed a body of a dead child from the debris, and five people have been hospitalized. There are thought to be more people under the debris," the spokesman said.
According to preliminary information, as a result of the explosion the ceilings collapsed in 12 apartments in the building. The spokesman said that 28 people were evacuated.
