WASHINGTON, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - Michael Jackson's doctor, who is under investigation following the king of pop's death in late June, spoke for the first time in a video message posted on YouTube.
"I have done all I could do," Dr. Conrad Murray told supporters and well wishers in the one-minute video. "I told the truth and I have faith the truth will prevail."
"Because of all that is going on, I am afraid to return phone calls or use my e-mail," Murray says. "I recorded this video to let all of you know that I have been receiving your messages ... Your messages give me strength and courage and keep me going. They mean the world to me."
Murray was Jackson's personal physician. He was interviewed a number of times by police following Jackson's death, and investigators carried out raids on his offices in Las Vegas, Nevada and Houston, Texas, as well as his Las Vegas home.
Murray admitted giving Jackson Propofol, a powerful sedative, before the 50-year-old singer died to treat his insomnia. The doctor said he had got the sedative legally from a Las Vegas pharmacy.
Propofol also known as Diprovan is administered to patients before major surgery, and is not intended for regular use, however Jackson is believed to have taken the drug every night for at least two years.
The doctor received death threats following media reports on the role played by Murray and Jackson's physicians in administering the singer with a cocktail of prescription drugs over many years.
Jackson's family announced that the king of pop will be buried in a private ceremony on August 29 at Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles on what would have been his 51st birthday.
The exclusive cemetery has become the final resting place for a number of big stars like Jean Harlow, Carole Lombard and Clark Gable.
