MOSCOW, August 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Foreign Minister and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton discussed on Thursday an upcoming meeting on Iran's nuclear program, Russia's Foreign Ministry said.
Lavrov and Clinton discussed the Group of Six September 2 meeting on Iran's nuclear program
The Group of Six comprises Russia, the U.S., China, Britain, Germany, and France.
Lavrov and Clinton also touched upon a number of other issues regarding bilateral economic cooperation and the situation in Russia's North Caucasus region.
The United States and other Western countries accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons under its peaceful nuclear program. Tehran has denied the accusations, saying its nuclear program is for civilian energy purposes only
However, Iran said earlier this week it was ready to hold talks with the West on its nuclear program without any preliminary conditions.
