MOSCOW, August 24 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Elena Dementieva has climbed one spot to fourth place in the WTA rankings following her victory in an all-Russian final at the Rogers Cup tennis tournament in Toronto.

Fourth-seeded Dementieva defeated her unseeded compatriot Maria Sharapova in straight sets 6-4; 6-3 on Sunday.

Former World No. 1 Sharapova, who is still struggling to regain top form after a shoulder injury, also improved drastically her WTA ranking position, jumping from last week's 49th place to 30th this Monday.

The newly published Top-10 ranking list is still headed by Russia's Dinara Safina.

In April this year, Safina became the second Russian to top the global women's tennis ranking after Maria Sharapova. The 23-year-old Russian is the 19th player to head the WTA list since the introduction of computer rankings in 1975.

The current Top-10 looks as follows:

1. Dinara Safina (Russia)

2. Serena Williams (USA)

3. Venus Williams (USA)

4. Elena Dementieva (Russia)

5. Jelena Jankovic (Serbia)

6. Svetlana Kuznetsova (Russia)

7. Vera Zvonareva (Russia)

8. Victoria Azarenka (Belarus)

9. Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark)

10. Flavia Pennetta (Italy)
