MOSCOW, August 30 (RIA Novosti) - Two female students were hospitalized in Moscow with multiple injuries on Sunday after jumping out of a sixth-floor dormitory to escape a fire, rescuers said.
The fire at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering's hall of residence on Yaroslavskoye Shosse in the capital's northeast broke out soon before 3:00 a.m. local time.
"A 40 square-meter room on the sixth floor caught fire, and eight doors in the corridor burned down. Two young women, trying to save themselves, jumped out of a sixth-floor window, and broke several bones," Emergency Ministry official Yevgeny Bobylev told RIA Novosti.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they helped 15 students out of the burning building, he said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
