Russia's Finans business magazine has compiled a ranking of the country's richest heirs, putting the son of a co-owner of oil giant LUKoil in pole position.

MOSCOW, August 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Finans business magazine has compiled a ranking of the country's richest heirs, putting the son of a co-owner of oil giant LUKoil in pole position.

Finans released its first ranking of oligarchs' children on September 1, 2007. The annual ranking is based on the magazine's list of people earning more than a billion dollars, with each parent's capital divided into the number of children.

Yusuf, the son of Vagit Alekperov, who directly and indirectly owns over 20% in LUKoil, comes first in the magazine's 2009 list of heirs, with $7.6 billion. Although the crude producer posted a 50% year-on-year drop in its U.S. GAAP net profit to $2.3 billion in the last week, it has managed to perform relatively well amid the ongoing economic slump.

He is followed by the five children of billionaire Roman Abramovich, each eligible to inherit $2.78 billion.

Three anonymous children of Vladimir Lisin, the owner of Novolipetsk Steel, one of Russia's largest steelmakers, come next with the right to inherit $2.57 billion each, according to the magazine.

Finans put three children of Suleiman Kerimov, who owns the investment group Nafta Moskva, in tenth place with $2.5 billion.

In April, Forbes magazine put the total wealth of Russia's 100 richest people at $142 billion.
