Over $300 mln needed to repair Siberian dam after accident
Russia's energy ministry has requested 9.6 billion rubles ($303 million) from the 2010 budget to repair a South Siberian hydropower plant hit by a deadly accident on August 17
MOSCOW, September 4 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's energy ministry has requested 9.6 billion rubles ($303 million) from the 2010 budget to repair a South Siberian hydropower plant hit by a deadly accident on August 17, a deputy energy minister said on Friday.
A total of 73 people were killed and two are still listed as missing following the August 17 accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya station in Siberia's Khakasia Republic. Repair work is expected to take several years.
Earlier on Friday it was reported that body parts believed to belong to the last two missing victims of the accident had been found.
