DONETSK, September 6 (RIA Novosti) - One person died and three others were injured in a coalmine methane blast in east Ukraine, the regional industrial safety watchdog said on Sunday.
The accident occurred late on Saturday at the coalmine named after the 60th anniversary of Ukraine in Donetsk. The mine was in the process of restructuring and one of the companies had won a tender to dismantle its equipment.
"Four persons from that organization entered without permission the mine where a small blast occurred," the watchdog said.
An investigation into the accident has been launched, the watchdog said.
Ukrainian mines are considered extremely dangerous due to the use of obsolete equipment and numerous safety violations.
