USINSK (Republic of Komi), September 6 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian delegation headed by Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko and comprising representatives of Russia's largest independent producer LUKoil will head to Iraq on Monday, the LUKoil CEO said Sunday.
A Russian consortium of oil firms led by LUKoil is seeking to restore a 1997 contract for the West Qurna-2 deposit.
Analysts say Iraq could resume work at the deposit with LUKoil, after Russia recently wrote off the bulk of the country's debt of around $12 billion.
Baghdad is also discussing West Qurna with Chevron and Total.
