MOSCOW, September 9 (RIA Novosti) - The Lord Mayor of the City of London Ian Luder met with his Moscow counterpart Yury Luzhkov in Russia to discuss the economic situation and how the recession has affected the capital, RIA Novosti reported.
At a meeting at Moscow’s city hall the mayors also discussed further trade cooperation between Moscow and London and strengthening bilateral ties, taking into account Moscow plans to become an international financial center.
Earlier Ian Luder expressed his support for Moscow’s plans and said he considered the capital an important partner for the future rather than a rival to London which has established itself as one of the financial capitals of the world.
He said that British business representatives saw opportunities for cooperation in areas of education and high-tech, and there were good prospects for British companies specializing in all areas of finance.
