GAZA STRIP, September 12 (RIA Novosti) - A Palestinian smuggler was killed and three others were injured on Saturday when a tunnel between the Gaza Strip and Egypt caved in, a health official told RIA Novosti.
Underground tunnels provide the Gaza Strip, blockaded by Israel since Hamas took control of the enclave in 2007, with food, petrol and household appliances. They are also used for weapons smuggling.
Over 120 Palestinians have died in the tunnels in just over two years, according to local medical officials.
Cave-ins, gas used by Egyptian border guards, and Israeli airstrikes are the common causes of death.
