SOCHI, September 18 (RIA Novosti) - Aeroflot, Russia's flagship air carrier, posted on Friday a 2% increase year-on-year in it net profit calculated to Russian Accounting Standards to 5.2 billion ($171 mln) for January-August 2009.
"Net profit was 5.2 billion rubles, up 2% against the first eight months of 2008," said Aeroflot's general director, Vitaly Savelyev.
However, he said the figure was 15% below target.
Aeroflot also posted an 8% drop year-on-year in revenue to 57.5 billion rubles ($1.9 bln) in the reporting period, with its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) up 18% to 14.4 billion rubles ($473.8 mln).
