MOSCOW, September 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russian international Yury Zhirkov will make his long-awaited debut for Chelsea against Queens Park Rangers in a Carling Cup tie on Wednesday evening, British media reports said.
Zhirkov, 26, has been out of action since the start of the season after injuring his knee in a friendly against AC Milan.
The left back / left midfielder signed for Chelsea from CSKA Moscow for almost $30 million in July. He was recommended by Russia's national team coach, Guus Hiddink, who led the West London side to FA Cup glory during a brief stint as caretaker manager last season.
Zhirkov's return is good news for Russia, who face Germany in a vital World Cup qualifying tie in Moscow on October 10.
