MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) - At least 16 people were killed in northwest Pakistan on Saturday in two suicide car bombings, local police said.
Ten people have been reported dead and over 70 injured following blast that went off in a car park outside a bank in the city of Peshawar. Locals said the explosion, in a crowded commercial area, could be heard throughout the city.
Police said that before the blast, the terrorist in the car also threw a hand grenade, which failed to explode.
Earlier in the day, a suicide car bomb outside a police station in the town of Bannu killed at least six and injured several others. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Both locations are in the North-West Frontier Province, which borders Afghanistan.
The bombings have sparked fears of a Taliban resurgence in the region, despite the recent killings of several of the group's top commanders in Pakistan.
