MAKHACHKALA, October 2 (RIA Novosti) - Two militants were killed in a special operation in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan on Friday, a spokesman for the region's FSB department said.
"The identity of those killed is being established," the Federal Security Service official said.
No casualties among law-enforcement officers have been reported. The operation is ongoing.
Militants have stepped up attacks on troops, police and other officials in Dagestan and other Russia's mainly Muslim North Caucasus republics in recent months.
