On October 7, “The Red Piano,” a spectacular concert production came to Moscow’s Olimpiisky Stadium. The city’s Kremlin Palace was too small. The extravagant 62-year-old musician arrived with one red piano, almost 50 truckloads of props and 120 performers.

Not only do you get a wild, energy filled Sir Elton John, but you get it all in a truly unique environment. On October 7, “The Red Piano,” a spectacular concert production came to Moscow’s Olimpiisky Stadium. The city’s Kremlin Palace was too small. The extravagant 62-year-old musician arrived with one red piano, almost 50 truckloads of props and 120 performers.
Elton John’s friend and famous photographer, David LaChapelle, added color neon sculptures, pop art, inflatable figures and balls, and a live group to the show.
The seemingly unphased Russians started reacting only after spotting Pamela Anderson pole-dancing on the video screen, as promised by the show’s organizers.
The tempo increased, and more popular hits were performed. When Sir Elton started performing his “I’m Still Standing,” he invited front-row fans to join him around the red piano. The most active sang along with Sir Elton and even tried to climb on the piano.
At the end of the show, Sir Elton expressed his love for the Russian audience and said “Spasibo” (“Thank you” in Russian).
