MAKHACHKALA, October 8 (RIA Novosti) - Two militants were shot dead on Thursday during a special operation in the south Russian republic of Dagestan, the local security service said.
A spokesman told RIA Novosti that the militants were Gadzhimurad Kamalutdinov, the leader of a terrorist group based in the regional capital, Makhachkala, and his wife.
The special operation took place in a village in the Kirovaul Kizilyurtovsky district.
An automatic rifle, a pistol and several grenades were found at the scene of the shootout. Investigators are continuing to search the site.
