KIEV, October 16 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine's newly appointed foreign minister, Petro Poroshenko, will pay a visit to Russia on October 23, Ukraine's UNIAN news agency said on Friday.
"During the visit, Poroshenko is scheduled to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss pressing issues of Russian-Ukrainian relations," the agency cited the Russian embassy in Kiev as saying.
A spokesperson for Ukraine's Foreign Ministry said, however, that despite ongoing preparations for the visit, the exact date has yet to be determined.
Ukraine's parliament approved Poroshenko as foreign minister last Friday. President Viktor Yushchenko introduced the new foreign minister to the country's diplomatic corps on Tuesday.
