ROSTOV-ON-DON, October 17 (RIA Novosti) - A two-year-old girl missing in south Russia for 20 hours was found safe in a pit on Saturday, a local police spokesman said.
Over 300 police officers and 200 residents of the Kamensk District in the Rostov Region were involved in searches for the girl who went missing on Friday afternoon. She would have never been able to make it away from the pit herself.
"The child got badly frozen... She has been taken to the Kamensk hospital," Alexei Polyansky said, adding that the girl's life was not jeopardized, according to doctors.
The girl's parents had been celebrating her second birthday ever since Tuesday, leaving the birthday child herself with a neighbor.
Polyansky said a special commission at the local government would consider depriving the girl's mother of parental rights at the police's request.
