KABUL, October 27 (RIA Novosti) - A total of eight US soldiers and one Afghan interpreter were killed on Tuesday in southern Afghanistan, an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) spokeswoman said.
Jane Campbell said eight American servicemen and one Afghan interpreter were killed in separate roadside bomb attacks with several soldiers wounded in the incidents.
The US military has given no further details on the events.
According to CNN, in the last 48 hours a total of 24 US soldiers died in Afghanistan. In October, 58 soldiers were killed, making it the deadliest month for US troops since the war in Afghanistan began in 2001.
Violence has surged in Afghanistan in recent months, with the radical Islamic Taliban group, which was toppled in a 2001 US-led campaign, staging regular attacks on provincial government officials, police and civilians and planting roadside devices as part of the battle with US and NATO troops.
