TOMSK, October 29 (RIA Novosti) - Three teenagers have been detained in the West Siberian city of Tomsk on suspicion of killing a man who bought them some bread after they told him they were hungry, local investigators said on Thursday.
According to an Investigative Committee statement, last Saturday night a man rebuked a group of teenagers who were swearing loudly in the street. He then asked why they were outdoors so late and if they were hungry. After the teenagers said they lived on the streets and were hungry, the man bought them a loaf of bread.
The report said that instead of being grateful for man's kindness, the teenagers severely beat him and smashed a glass beer bottle over his head. The 35-year-old man died in hospital three days later.
Investigators said three male youths were detained on Wednesday on suspicion of killing the man. "They are residents of Tomsk with no previous convictions who were brought up in vulnerable families," the statement said.
"The Investigative Committee of the Prosecutor's Office in the Tomsk region has initiated a criminal case for intentional serious bodily harm that resulted in the unintentional death of a man," the statement said.
