
On November 10, the hundreds of thousands of men and women employed in Russia’s many different police units celebrate National Police Day. Police officers will not get the day off, but will be receive congratulations while on duty. This collection of images celebrates the women serving on the force.

Russia’s Interior units employ a total of 197,339 women, including over 150,000 senior officers and two generals.

About 28,000 women work in Russia’s investigative agencies. Over 75% (about 15,000) of the employees at the department that deals with juvenile delinquency are women, and about 4,400 women (30.5%) serve as forensic experts.

Russia has 3,387 female district police inspectors.

A total of 8,288 women are employed with Russia’s traffic police.
