Hungarian state news agency MTI said a shooting in a university classroom in southern Hungary on Thursday left one student dead and three people injured.
It reported that police have detained a 23-year-old male suspect who is a pharmacy student at the University of Pecs.
MTI cited a Pecs police spokeswoman as saying the suspect used a handgun in the shooting, and then fled to a nearby clinic, where he phoned the police.
They detained him within 20 minutes of the incident.
According to a university spokesman, the gunman opened fire during a class at the university's biophysics research institute, MTI reported.
The injured included classmates of the suspected shooter and a cleaning woman.
