A police officer guarding Russia's Federation Council, the upper house of the country's parliament, discovered a sum of money when patrolling his territory and returned it to the owner.
Yury Trofimov, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry's state power body guard department, said: "Police warrant officer Vladislav Lipik recently found 35,000 rubles ($1,200) while patrolling the territory adjacent to the Federation Council."
Trofimov said Lipik immediately informed the police front office about the find.
"The owner of banknotes, 27-year-old driver Vitaly Shishkin, lost his money at the parking lot," he said.
"After the money was returned, the driver warmly thanked police officers for vigilant service and honesty," he said.
