The Brazilian president is arriving in Ukraine on a two-day visit on Tuesday.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is scheduled to visit the Yuzhmash space rocket manufacturer in the southern Ukrainian city of Dnepropetrovsk.
Brazil is one of the world’s leading countries in terms of space satellite launches. Ukrainian rockets are launched from Brazil’s Alcantara space center as part of bilateral space cooperation.
“Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will be in Ukraine on a state visit on December 1-2, 2009,” the Ukrainian presidential press service said in a statement.
“The presidents of Ukraine and Brazil are to visit Ukraine’s leading enterprise Yuzhmash on December 2,” the statement said.
A number of bilateral documents will be signed following the visit, including agreements on visa facilitation, air travel communication and cultural cooperation.
A Ukrainian-Brazilian business forum is expected to be held during the visit.
Besides talks with President Viktor Yushchenko, Lula da Silva will meet with Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and parliament speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn.
