The fire at a nightclub in the Russian Urals city of Perm killed 106 people, eight of whom have not been identified, a Russian emergencies ministry official said on Saturday evening.
"According to our records, 106 people were killed by the fire in the club," a spokesman for the Perm branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry told RIA Novosti, adding that 98 of them had been identified by relatives..
Earlier in the day, federal investigators said 109 people had died, and officials in Perm said 81 had been identified.
The tragedy occurred during a party to celebrate the Lame Horse club's eighth anniversary when an indoor fireworks display started a fire that consumed most of the 500-square-meter venue.
