Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has offered his condolences to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev over more than 100 deaths being the result of a nightclub fire in the Russian Urals city of Perm, the Azerbaijani presidential press service has said.
"It was with deep regret that I learned of the multiple people's deaths in a fire in Perm," Ilham Aliyev said in a statement.
"I express my heartfelt condolences to you, to the families of those who have died, to the Russian people. I wish a quick recovery for those injured," he said.
The tragedy occurred in the Urals city's Lame Horse club during a party to celebrate the club's eighth anniversary when an indoor fireworks display started a fire that consumed most of the 500-square-meter venue.
The Perm Region emergencies service said earlier 110 victims of the fire had been identified as of 00:40 a.m. Moscow time (21:40 GMT).
Russia's Health Minister Tatyana Golikova, who returned from Perm to Moscow early on Sunday, said there had been 109 deaths registered by her departure.
President Dmitry Medvedev declared Monday a day of national mourning for the victims of the blaze.
Memorial services will take place on Sunday in all Orthodox churches of Perm.
