Russia’s Father Frost and his Norwegian colleague Julenisse met in the Moscow residence of the winter wizard for the first time on December 8.
Both Father Frost and Julenisse confessed to working hard to bring a real winter to the Russian capital on the eve of their meeting.
“I scattered some snow around the city for winter to start with your visit,” said Father Frost to Julenisse, who came to the Russian capital along with a gnome. “I did too, on my way to Moscow,” the guest replied.
Father Frost told journalists that requests for snow had been the most frequent in the past days.
Julenisse, who visited Moscow for the first time, was very intrigued by the cabins where Father Frost and his granddaughter, the Snow Maiden, live.
He also visited Father Frost’s post office where he was shown letters and presents sent by children from Russia and abroad.
Julenisse spoke about his own residence in Norway, near the old village of Savalen. There is a mountain nearby where he likes to ski, and an ice rink.
The Norwegian guest got the traditional welcome of bread and salt.
These two Santa Clauses look very much alike. The only difference is that Father Frost doesn’t wear glasses.
