The Palestinian-Israeli conflict cannot be resolved in the current political climate, a Russian expert said on Monday.
Yevgeny Satanovsky, the president of the Institute of Middle East Studies, blamed the UN, among others, for the current impasse.
"During the past 60 years, the UN has driven the situation into an absolute deadlock," he said.
"Whereas the Israelis are ready to make concessions, to Palestine the border issue is very simple. It's the whole of Israel plus all Palestinian territories beyond Israel's present borders," he said.
On the issue of Jerusalem, he said Israel was ready to cede "Arab boroughs for the [future] capital of Palestine," but the Palestinian side would not to make any concessions.
Another intractable issue is the issue of Palestinian refugees, Satanovsky said.
"Israel is ready to accept a certain number of refugees," he said, stressing, "but only those who are real refugees."
