Russia's foreign trade surplus decreased 41%, year-on-year, in January-November 2009 to $99.5 billion, the Economics Ministry said on Tuesday.
Russia's exports grew an estimated 4.1% in November 2009, year-on-year, to $31.6 billion and decreased 39% in January-November 2009 as compared with the same period last year to $270.2 billion, the ministry said.
Imports decreased 8.7% in November 2009, year-on-year, to $20 billion and 36.3% in January-November 2009 as compared with the same period last year to $170.7 billion, the ministry said.
In November 2009, imports of engineering goods from countries other than former Soviet republics declined 0.1%, month-on-month, the imports of foods grew 4.5% and chemicals 1.3%, while the imports of textiles and footwear were down 19.7%, Russia's customs agencies said, citing preliminary data.
