President Dmitry Medvedev signed on Tuesday a law ratifying Russia's intergovernmental agreement with Iceland on simplifying the system of visa travel between the countries.
The agreement is aimed at establishing conditions for developing contacts between Russian and Icelandic citizens and officials, and improving bilateral cooperation.
Rules for obtaining visas valid for up to three months will be simplified for a broad category of tourists, businesspeople, and officials traveling between the countries.
The agreement, which was passed by Russia's lower and upper houses of parliament earlier this month, also allows for multiple visas valid for up to five years.
